Charles Munch est un chef d’orchestre français né en 1891 et mort en 1968. En 1925 il devient professeur de violon au conservatoire de Strasbourg avant de prendre, en 1935, la direction de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Paris ! Il reçoit la légion d’honneur en 1945 pour ses actes de résistance pendant la seconde Guerre. En 1949 il devient le directeur musical de l’Orchestre symphonique de Boston puis obtient en 1962 le poste de président de l’École normale de musique !
